How to charge your electric vehicle in Gothenburg

Our app for charging, Ladda Din Elbil, isn't always available for some who are visiting from abroad. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Please try via our web version instead. To change language from Swedish, click on the +4U button in the upper right corner.

Transition to Parkering Göteborg

During the winter and spring months of 2023, our normal chargers (up to 22kW) are migrating from our app Ladda Din Elbil to Parkering Göteborg. During this period, you'll have to pay careful attention to the signs in the parking spot to determine which app to use.

The stations for fast charging will remain with Göteborg Energi, and you'll continue to use Ladda Din Elbil for charging.

About public charging

There are more than 1 000 public charging points in Gothenburg, which makes us one of the most accessible cities in Scandinavia when it comes to public charging. 

How the app works

1. Locate charging station

Select a charging station by either tapping and dragging the map, scanning the QR code or searching for a charging station by selecting the magnifying glass.

2 Create an account

When you charge via the app, there are advantages if you choose to register an account. There are several less steps when paying next time, you don't have to state your email adress more than once and we will not reserve an amount on your payment card.

You register an account when you are in the process of charging at one of our stations. When you're making the payment, make sure you tick the box ”Save card for next charging session”, then verify and name your chosen payment card. The payment card needs to be open for international payment.

3. At the charging station

Once you've found an available charging spot, in the app, click Start charging, choose an amount limit and click Proceed to payment.

You'll find the current charging price in the app or on goteborgenergi.se/laddpriser.

A charging spot marked as green is available, if it's marked pink the charging spot is temporarily unavailable.

4. Stop charging

Make sure you also stop charging via the app, and not the car's own system. Some chargers can't interpret the command from the car's system and you might not be able to disconnect the charging cable.

Charging and paying in Ladda Din Elbil

1. Locate charging station
Open the app and use the map to locate a station and the charger you wish to use.
2. Choose your charging plan
Set a price limit.
3. Payment method
Choose a debit or credit card. Tick the box "Save card for next charging session" to avoid having to register the card again.
4. Name and save your payment card
If you create an account you only have to do this step once.

The app is free and can be downloaded for both Android and iPhone.

You'll find the current charging price in the app Ladda din Elbil or on goteborgenergi.se/laddpriser.

This is a safety precaution to make sure there is money on the account. The amount you've chosen will be temporarily reserved on your card but is never transferred from your card. When the charging is finished the actual amount that you’ve charged for will be deducted and the remaining amout that was reserved will be released on your card. Depending on your banks terms the remaining amount will be released with various timing, it might be immediately or it may take a few days.

Please make sure that your card is open for international payment. Credit cards from Visa or MasterCard will work, at this time unfortunately American Express is not going to work. 

The new app Ladda din elbil can be downloaded where you find other apps, at App Store or Google Play.

When you register as a customer in the app we can share news and updates with you. You will know about changes or updates more quickly and we will also be able to adjust our offers by understanding our customers' habits and needs. Sounds good, right? 

Please make sure that the email was not filtered as spam. The email with the verification code comes from the sender  noreply@plus4u.net or unicorn.com. The subject in the email should be: Registration – Confirm your email address.
