Natural gas is a clean and efficient fuel with a wide range of applications. It can be used in the processing industry, as a fuel for vehicles, for cooking and of course for heating premises and houses.
Our natural gas network is 168 km long and supplied 1,316 GWh in 2005.
On July 1, 2005 the natural gas market was deregulated for business customers. It resembled the deregulation that took place on the electricity market and means that the business customers can buy their gas from any gas supplier in the country. The deregulation for consumers is planned to July 1, 2007.
As part of our aspirations for a more sustainable energy system, we work actively to drive forward and support processes to extract more biogas in the future. Our long-term objective is that 20 percent of our gas deliveries will consist of biogas in 2010.
